CDCFIB Recruitment 2026/27: Which Service Fits You?

Overview

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) runs recruitment for four paramilitary agencies: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and the Federal Fire Service (FFS). The last major exercise drew over 600,000 applicants — and the 2026/2027 round is expected to be just as competitive.

General requirements cut across all four services: you must be a Nigerian citizen by birth, aged 18 to 35, medically fit, of good character with no criminal record, and meet minimum height and education thresholds that vary by cadre. Graduates enter at higher ranks than SSCE holders, and each agency has its own physical and screening standards.

Use the checker below to see which of the four services your age, height, education and record likely qualify you for — then read the guide for how the stages work and how to avoid the fake portals that appear every recruitment cycle.

Frequently asked questions

Which agencies recruit through CDCFIB?
Four: NSCDC (Civil Defence), NIS (Immigration), NCoS (Correctional) and FFS (Fire Service).
What is the age limit?
18 to 35 years at the time of application, across all four services.
Is the application free?
Yes. CDCFIB recruitment is free — anyone asking for payment is running a scam.
Can SSCE holders apply?
Yes, at lower cadres. Graduates (HND/B.Sc.) enter at higher ranks with better pay.
Is this a government website?
No. This is an independent guide.
How do I know a CDCFIB recruitment portal is genuine?
The real portal is announced in national newspapers and on the official cdcfib.gov.ng website. Genuine recruitment never asks for payment, never runs through WhatsApp groups or Facebook pages, and never uses 'agents'. When in doubt, type the official address yourself — never click a forwarded link.
What medical and physical tests are part of screening?
Screening typically includes a physical fitness assessment, height measurement, document verification and a medical examination. Each of the four services sets its own physical standards, so what passes for the Fire Service may differ from Immigration. Forged medical certificates mean instant disqualification — do not risk it.
What documents do I need at the screening centre?
Bring your birth certificate or age declaration, educational certificates (SSCE, NCE, ND, HND or degree as applicable), certificate of state of origin, NYSC discharge or exemption certificate where required, and a valid ID. Originals plus photocopies are standard — missing documents are one of the top reasons candidates are turned away.
Do I need an NYSC discharge certificate to apply?
For graduate cadres, yes — an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is normally required at screening. SSCE and ND holders applying to lower cadres may not need one. If your NYSC status is unresolved, sort it out before the screening dates are announced.
What happens after I pass the screening?
Successful candidates proceed to further stages that can include written aptitude tests, interviews and final medicals, depending on the service. After passing the screening, the final shortlists are published officially. Anyone asking for money to 'secure your slot' at this stage is a scammer — placement is by merit and official process only.
Can I reapply if I was disqualified last time?
Yes, as long as you still meet the age and other requirements — a past disqualification for something like incomplete documents does not ban you. The exception is forgery: fake certificates can mean a permanent ban. Fix whatever disqualified you and apply honestly next round.
Are there height requirements, and can they be waived?
Each service sets minimum height standards, and they cannot be waived — measurement happens at screening. The thresholds differ between agencies and sometimes between male and female candidates. Check the specific agency's requirements for the current exercise rather than relying on rumours from previous years.
