Canada Disability Benefit: October 15 Payment Brings Up to $204.20 — What Recipients Should Know

If you receive the Canada Disability Benefit, check your bank account tomorrow. The next monthly payment is confirmed for Thursday, October 15, 2026 — and this one carries a little more than last year's.

October's deposit is the fourth payment of the 2026–27 benefit year, and it reflects the program's first-ever annual indexation. The maximum monthly payment has risen from $200 to $204.20, a 2.1% increase. Over the full benefit year, the maximum annual entitlement now stands at $2,450.40, paid in monthly instalments.

The Canada Disability Benefit is income-tested, which means the amount landing in your account depends on your adjusted family net income from your most recent tax return — not on a flat rate everyone receives. Lower-income recipients get closer to the maximum; the payment phases down as family income rises. If your total annual entitlement works out to $240 or less, you may receive the whole amount as a single lump-sum payment instead of monthly deposits.

Three facts worth keeping in mind: the benefit is tax-free and does not need to be reported as income on your annual return; it is designed to supplement, not replace, your provincial or territorial disability supports; and it only goes to people who have applied and been approved — it is not automatic.

There is also a recent bonus worth knowing about. A $150 supplemental payment was issued to recipients earlier in the benefit year, on top of the regular monthly amounts. If you received it, that was a one-time top-up, not a permanent increase — your ongoing monthly figure is the indexed amount described above.

What should you do before October 15? Mostly, nothing — if your banking details and address with the CRA are current, the payment arrives automatically. But if you moved recently, changed banks, or your family income changed significantly, update your information now rather than chasing a missing payment later. And if you believe you qualify but have never applied, the application remains open year-round; approval means future monthly payments, though past months you missed are generally not paid retroactively.

The October payment is a good moment to do one more useful thing: run your numbers. The income test means small changes in reported family income can shift your monthly amount, so understanding where you sit on the scale helps you plan the year ahead.
