Payday Super Checker — Is Your Employer Paying on Time?

Overview

From 1 July 2026, payday super changed everything about how superannuation is paid in Australia. Employers must now pay your super on the same day as your wages — and the contribution must reach your super fund within 7 business days of each pay run, at the 12% Super Guarantee rate.

That sounds technical, but it matters enormously: under the old quarterly system, a dodgy or struggling employer could go months before anyone noticed missing super. Now, every payday is a checkpoint. About 14 million Australian workers are covered — which means the question “is my super being paid?” has a fresh, urgent answer every single pay cycle.

Use the checker below with your last payslip: enter the pay date and your ordinary-time earnings, and it will show exactly how much super your employer owes, the legal deadline, and a live countdown. Note: this is an independent guide, not a government website.

Frequently asked questions

How much super should my employer pay?
12% of your ordinary-time earnings (your normal pay before tax, generally excluding overtime). A $2,500 pay means $300 of super.
What is the deadline?
Your super must reach your fund within 7 business days of payday — weekends don’t count.
What if my super is late?
You can report unpaid super to the ATO. Employers who pay late may owe the super plus interest and penalties.
How do I check whether my super actually arrived in my fund?
Log in to your super fund's member portal — contributions appear as transactions dated when the fund received them. Payslips only show deductions, not arrivals. If a payment is missing past the 7-business-day deadline, ask your employer, then report it to the ATO.
Does each of my jobs have to pay super on payday?
Yes. Every employer must pay your super on the same day they pay your wages, with the 7-business-day arrival rule applying separately to each job. Having two part-time jobs does not exempt either employer — check both funds if you hold more than one account.
Is super paid on overtime and bonuses?
Super is calculated on ordinary-time earnings — your normal pay before tax — which generally excludes overtime. Bonuses and commissions are trickier: some count as ordinary-time earnings and some do not. If a large bonus had no super paid on it, the ATO's guidance or your fund can clarify.
What penalties can an employer face for late super?
Employers who miss the deadline can owe the unpaid super plus interest, and face the Super Guarantee Charge along with ATO penalties. Repeated or deliberate non-payment can lead to serious enforcement action. The whole point of payday super is that missing payments are now visible within days, not months.
Does payday super cover salary-sacrifice contributions too?
Salary-sacrifice contributions are extra, voluntary payments on top of the 12% guarantee. The payday rule governs the compulsory employer contribution. Your salary-sacrifice arrangement follows whatever timing your agreement sets — check it separately from the guarantee payments.
What if my employer has gone bust and owes me super?
Contact the ATO — unpaid super can sometimes be recovered through the Super Guarantee Charge process, though recovery from an insolvent company is difficult and slow. This is exactly the scenario payday super was designed to prevent, since missing payments are now visible every pay cycle.
Should my super appear as a line item on my payslip?
Yes — payslips should show the super amount your employer is contributing. But remember the payslip shows the deduction or allocation, not the arrival. Always cross-check against your fund's transaction history to confirm the money actually reached your account within the 7-business-day window.
